Ive been withering for so long without a plan or an idea that actually I’d lost focus. Don’t get me wrong, I like running without a plan, feeling my way around the trails and being spontaneous. This, is not conducive to acheiveing goals though.
I’ve signed up for two events. City to City: Edinburgh to Glasgow ultramarathon, and City to Summit; iron distance dualthon running and cycling Edinburgh to Ben Nevis (how cool is that?)!
This focussed my attention on making sure I can actually get around these courses and developed a plan a few weeks ago. I’m now 3 weeks in and I have to say I’m loving it. Having a focus and a goal does huge things to my training and psychology!
I’m seeing gains in my running and also being back on the road bike is giving me encouragement.
If there’s on piece of advice that I could impart to folks starting out on their active journey, it is to have a plan to achieve your goals no matter how small or large!
